If there's been one thing that's really annoyed me lately about software, it's registering it, and all the hassles with just even attempting to do that.
There's programs that require registration to work, and require you to be on the internet to be able to do that. Not everybody is on the net, and you often can't register software using a public access service, because they require an e-mail address from you. Or require you to have a credit card, or require you to send cash overseas. All of which can make it impossible for many people to register their software, or dangerous to attempt it. And I really don't feel comfortable with giving credit card details to some unknown person across the other side of the planet.
I've spent a couple of months trying to register some particular software. In one case the author is uncontactable; and in another case, the on-line registration site is so slow it took me over an hour to complete the transaction (when I finally managed to get it to respond). And it had taken ages before I got an opportunity to register it that was not at twice the price other people pay (which was utterly rediculous, for what it was).
